5195 children under 5 were so badly burnt in 2015
that they had to be admitted to a specialist burns service
That's 14 toddlers every single day
“When you run a bath, put cold water in first, then top up with hot, and never, ever, leave babies or young children
alone in the bath. Cover any low-level hot pipes with insulating material if you can, in case children fall against them"

Scalding changes lives, forever
A special message from Amanda Redman MBE
" As patron of the Children’s Burns Trust I was delighted to learn of the latest Hot Water Burns Like Fire Campaign; it is particularly heartening to see industrial, academic, medical, regulatory and social organisations working together to raise awareness and work towards a solution.
I know only too well the pain, both physical and psychological, of scalding – the life long implications of an accident that occurred in an instant. I am delighted to endorse the Hot Water Burns Life Fire Campaign – and hope that after exploring this excellent website you will agree! "

What is Scalding?
Scalding is a burn to the skin caused by uncontrolled hot water and steam.
A scald takes longer to heal, and the scar is worse, than that from dry heat.
There is no cure for a burn. The only logical action is prevention.
